CHAPTER EIGHT

Alarms should be illegal on Sunday mornings.

That was the only thing Trent could think about as his phone blared, rattling against the nightstand. Smacking in the general direction of the heinous sound, his hand finally made contact with the device, making it stop. He squinted at the red digital numbers projected onto the ceiling by the clock, one eye still closed, trying to make his brain register what time it was.

Eight forty-five.

Groaning, he shifted back into place, careful not to displace the heavy, limp arm draped across his chest. He loved waking up next to Mahoney, smelling his manly scent as he took his first few breaths of the day. This was the right way to start a morning. Even if they were up against a deadline and couldn’t drag it out the way he wanted.

“Time to get up, big boy,” Trent mumbled, running his finger along Mahoney’s bicep. It was a big, solid muscle that Trent loved to watch flex, especially if it was flexing while jerking him off.

“Nooooo.” The sound that came out of him was a mix between a grumble and a moan, barely decipherable as he snuggled his head into the crux of Trent’s shoulder. If he hadn’t been fluent in early-morning Mahoney, Trent wasn’t sure he would have understood the noise. The snuggles on the other hand—that message was loud and clear.

Wrapping his arms around his boyfriend, Trent pulled Mahoney in closer, inhaling deeply, letting that amazing Mahoney smell fill his nostrils. It was like a drug, one that could calm him and kick his pulse into gear all at the same time.

I wonder if it’s possible to bottle it…

“We have to. I’ve got a shift and you’ve got training.”

“It’s a conditioning session,” Mahoney grumbled. “Just Gunnar’s way of making sure none of us drank too much last night. All we’ll do is stretch and maybe scrimmage. Avery, I’m sure, will give us each a once-over as well.”

“Rested, sober, and hydrated is not a bad plan.”

Mahoney grumbled again, snuggling deeper into Trent. His hard body pressed against him was making Trent’s dick twitch, his mind starting to fill with all sorts of ideas—things they did not have time for this morning. They needed to get up, showered, and fed. Not to mention, Trent needed to call a Lyft to get back to his place so he could get to work.

Soft, supple lips pressed against Trent’s neck, derailing his thoughts. Each new open-mouth kiss was hotter than the last, Mahoney concentrating on the spot he knew drove Trent wild. Trent was unable to do anything but lie there, soaking in the bliss that was flowing through his body.

“I think this is a better plan,” Mahoney countered, sucking gently on Trent’s skin.

Trent could barely form a thought, much less reply, reaching in between them, palming Mahoney’s already hard cock. They hadn’t bothered getting dressed last night before getting into bed, both too exhausted after making out in the shower, requiring a second clean-up effort. Trent regretted
